Green Energy for the AlAzhar Campus

On 11.10.2021, three protocols between the contracting parties AlAzhar University, Ministry of Military Production and LOHMANN ECCE S.A.E were solemnly adopted at AlAzhar University.

In a central protocol, it is decided to supply the university with renewable energy. In this project, the construction of solar panels on the roofs of the university (for 380,000 students) to generate green electricity and the installation of an electrolyser to produce green hydrogen, along with storage.

The project is planned in 2022 and is expected to be implemented in 2023.

Green Energy for Western Macedonia

On 02 March 2022, a preliminary contract for the development and construction of solar projects with a connected load of 54 MW in Florina, Western Macedonia, was concluded with three local energy cooperatives. Western Macedonia is the centre of the Greek lignite industry, which currently produces the raw material that accounts for 31% of Greece’s electricity production. Greece has committed at the UN climate summit to phase out lignite-based electricity production by 2028, and the solar parks are expected to be connected to the grid by the end of 2023.
